A state task force dealing with the backlog of rape kits in Arizona says there are more than 6,000 of them waiting to be tested; that’s more than originally thought.

Advocates worry this could impact future victims of sexual assault coming forward.

Ilse Knecht is director of Policy and Advocacy for the Joyful Heart Foundation, which runs End the Backlog. Knecht talks about how Arizona’s situation compares to other places.

State Senate Minority Leader Katie Hobbs also talks about the backlog of untested rape kits in Arizona.
