The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors approved a 10 percent raise for all certified positions in the sheriff’s office.
According to the Prescott Daily Courier, the board voted yesterday to raise salaries because recruitment and retention are a concern.
However, the pay increase will cost the county more than $1 million a year, which supervisors did not plan for in the 2016-2017 fiscal year budget. The measure will go into effect Jan. 1, 2017.
