A conference at the University of Arizona this weekend will bring together groups of people who don’t necessarily talk to each other otherwise to discuss food and water supplies.
The gathering is being put on by UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
Gary Paul Nabhan is the founding director of the Center for Regional Food Studies at UA. Nabhan discusses what the goals are of this conference, which is called “Food and Water in Arid Lands: Dialogues Across Contemporary and Traditional Knowledge.”
