Arizona Sen. John McCain may have given his final victory speech last night. McCain congratulated his Democratic rival Ann Kirkpatrick for a good fight and suggested he wouldn’t be asking for votes again.

An emotional Cindy McCain introduced her husband to a few hundred people at the Heard Museum in Phoenix.

John McCain says, “Campaigns are harder on the campaign’s family than the candidate, and I’ve put my family through quite a few. I think this might be the last.”

The 80-year-old thanked voters for sending him back to Washington for another six years.

Before the election McCain had said he wouldn’t vote for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. He didn’t name either, but said this: "I promise you I will work as hard as I ever have, use all my knowledge and experience and relationships and extend an open hand to our new president.”

McCain took no questions from reporters.
