The new arena will be constructed at the site of the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, at the northwest corner of McClintock Drive and Rio Salado Parkway, across from the Tempe Marketplace.

Catellus Development Corporation, which entered into a negotiating the Coyotes ownership group, IceArizona Holdings, said that they have until June 30 to finalize a budget, design and operational plan.

Greg Weaver, executive vice president of Catellus, says they’re at the very early stages of planning but the site will feature retail, multifamily housing, hotels and office space. “The dream is really this live, work, play," Weaver said. "And the play part of it is both from an entertainment standpoint, going to a Coyotes game, or playing - going for a run or going out to dinner and to entertain.”

The Coyotes will leave Gila River Arena in Glendale, after the conclusion of the 2018-19 season.
