Ride-sharing is not the only trend changing the way Americans get around. Electric cars are increasing in popularity nationwide, but an announcement Tuesday is holding up some progress in the West.
Work has been suspended at a $1 billion dollar electric vehicle factory in Nevada.
Faraday Future is a Chinese-backed, American start-up company.
Nevada paid Faraday Future $200 million in incentives to build in the state and create 4,500 potential jobs at the plant, which now has no start date to begin production.
Faraday’s Nevada announcement comes after its main competitor, Tesla Motors, said last month it would build its Atieva electric vehicle in Arizona.
The same Chinese company holds an ownership interest in both Faraday and Atieva, and board members are not commenting on future direction.
