The Arizona Legislature will have new faces in leadership when the next regular session begins in January. Some of that is by necessity, as current Senate President Andy Biggs has been elected to Congress while House Speaker David Gowan lost his congressional bid.

Neither Biggs nor Gowan will be back at the Legislature in 2017. House and Senate members selected their new leaders last week. Steve Yarbrough will take over as Senate leader, while his East Valley neighbor, J.D. Mesnard, is the speaker-elect.

We spoke with Speaker-elect Mesnard about his priorities and whether Legislative term limits make sense.
