Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra is a Valley band featuring 16 musicians who all play different genres of music. On Saturday night they’ll release their debut album called "PAO!"
We talked with the group’s founder and bassist, David Marquez, and the lead vocalist Camille Sledge. They are very influenced by a Nigerian musician named Fela Kuti, who was all really well known for his political activism, He’s also credited with creating the style of music known as Afrobeat.
Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra will be be performing Saturday night at the Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix.
