After seven months of overpass construction, Bell Road is reopening in Surprise Tuesday.
Arizona Department of Transportation designed the final project to reconstruct Bell Road as an overpass over Grand Avenue and railroad tracks, easing traffic flow at the intersection.
Bell Road closed completely last April, and since then there have been more than 400 car accidents in the long detour around the area.
Two construction workers were also injured, one critically, when a large concrete girder collapsed, delaying work.
While Bell Road is reopening, the Bell-Grand interchange ramps won’t be accessible until the end of construction, slated for Spring of 2017.
