Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton will meet with mayors from around the world to discuss how they can address climate change. Stanton will be one of the speakers at a conference in Mexico City next week.

The C-40 summit focuses on how mayors can work to prevent climate change.

This is an issue that Stanton has made one of his priorities. He once suggested that Phoenix should require large office buildings to report the amount of energy and water they consume, though that proposal was pre-empted by the General Assembly.

And Stanton has called on mayors from other cities in the Southwest to collaborate on drought prevention.

At the C-40 summit, one topic of discussion will be how female leaders can play a more prominent role in addressing climate change.
