Arizona’s physician shortage has been well documented, and a coalition of health-care groups and universities is trying to reduce it.

Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, Maricopa Integrated Health System, District Medical Group and Creighton University are working together to train more docs here, with the hope they’ll stay here to practice.

Dale Davenport is senior associate dean for the School of Medicine at Creighton University. Davenport addresses how big of a dent he thinks this program could put in the state’s doctor shortage.
