Phoenix’s Police Chief reassigned almost 170 officers to patrol Monday. The move is to improve first-responder functions.
Chief Jeri Williams announced the change, after Law Enforcement Association President Ken Crane said the Phoenix Police Department is in a manpower crisis.
Crane said staffing at the Phoenix Police Department is “decimated, overtime costs are skyrocketing and employees across the department are overworked and experiencing burnout."
Williams said the reallocation is necessary to ensure safety for the community and for officers.
