Scottsdale City Hall.

The city will interview six candidates Thursday evening. The City Council has narrowed and expanded the field several times in the past year.

The current candidates are John Kross, town manager of Queen Creek; Joseph Lessard, who was an assistant city manager of Austin; James Thompson, a previous city manager of Casa Grande, Konrad Hildebrandt, assistant city manager of Odessa, Texas; Gary Luebbers, a previous city manager of Sunnyvale, Calif.; and Jeffery Nichols, current city treasurer of Scottsdale.

Scottsdale Water Director Brian Biesmeyer has been serving as acting city manager since June 2015 after the former city manager suffered health problems.

The Scottsdale City Council will hold a public meeting this evening at 5 p.m. at City Hall where the candidates will make a brief presentation.
