Arizona is one of 10 states with the highest rate of economic growth last quarter, now ranking fourth in the nation, and far outpacing neighboring New Mexico at 43rd.
Arizona's economy grew by 2.7 percent in the second quarter, measured by gross domestic product, the total dollar value of all goods and services produced within the state.
The mining sector grew in the second quarter, after shrinking during the previous three quarters. The transportation and construction sectors also grew in the second quarter after declining during the first quarter.
