US congressman Ruben Gallego held a summit over the weekend to speak about the future of the Deferred Action Plan for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) put in place by President Barack Obama.
As President-Elect Donald Trump vowed to dismantle programs that helped undocumented individuals and made illegal immigration a key part of his presidential campaign, the future of DACA is now up in the air, as is the future of hundreds of Arizona youth who rely on it.
Gallego’s conference brought together immigration lawyers and community organizers in central Phoenix in order to answer practical questions and provide resources for parents and children.
