A vacant rental property in Phoenix will soon be a housing complex for victims of sex trafficking.
The city plans on turning the multi-family building into the Phoenix Starfish Place, a housing network for people who have been trafficked.
The building has 15 units and was built in 2013 to serve as transitional housing for homeless families.
It's vacant because of lack of funding.
The city is currently issuing requests for proposals for nonprofits to help identify human trafficking victims who would qualify to live in the housing.
The apartments will begin to be filled next summer.
