Two Tucson police officers have surrendered their certifications to work in Arizona law enforcement. Both officers were found to have inappropriate knowledge of, or involvement in, illegal massage parlors.
The Arizona Daily Star said that Oscar Ramos and Vincent Valenzuela were among eight employees who quit, or were terminated by, the Tucson Police Department after evidence linked them to a prostitution ring under investigation.
The Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board, or AZPOST, has accepted agreements in which Ramos, who admitted to using paid sex services, will surrender his certification.
Valenzuela, who AZPOST documents say had a personal relationship with the alleged operator of one of the companies, was reinstated to the force following an appeal to Tucson’s Civil Service Commission.
His certification will be suspended for three months.
