It’s almost time for the College Football Playoff. Teams are rolling into town in preparation for the Fiesta Bowl.
The No. 2 Clemson Tigers will face off against the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale on Saturday. Both teams will be practicing in Scottsdale throughout the week.
The Fiesta Bowl is a rotating member of the four-team College Football Playoff. The matchup is decided by a selection committee, and this year's contest serves as a semifinal game.
According to the Fiesta Bowl, the Jan. 1, 2016, game between Ohio State and Notre Dame brought almost 50,000 out-of-town visitors. Those fans bring an estimated $60 million in direct spending with them to the Valley.
The Fiesta Bowl was held at Sun Devil Stadium for 35 years until moving to the current location.
The winner of Saturday’s matchup will go on to play in the National Championship Game on Jan. 9 in Tampa, facing the winner of Saturday's other semifinal, between No. 1 Alabama and No. 4 Washington.
