For the first time in a decade, more people moved to Arizona and Florida than any other state, according to a survey by Allied Van Lines.
“We were kind of surprised to see that Texas got dethroned from the number one spot by the two other retirement states of Florida and Arizona, so that was an actual surprise for us,” said Violette Sieczka, a director with Allied.
The survey also cites job opportunities as a huge draw for Arizona and Florida.
Allied Van Lines annually surveys its clients’ moving data to track trends. As for where people are coming from? More people left Illinois this year than any other state.
“A lot of the population has been moving for various reasons, whether it’s retirement..in our opinion, it’s mostly been for corporate relocation, so people on the move based on their job,” Sieczka said.
More than 6,000 moving companies operate nationwide. Allied Van Lines is the fifth largest in the nation.
