Grand Jury Indicts Phoenix Man On Terrorist Charges

A State Grand Jury has indicted a Phoenix man on charges related to supporting a foreign terrorist organization.

Thirty-year-old Derrick Thompson, also known as Abu Talib Al-Amriki, is charged with Participating in a Criminal Syndicate, Assisting a Criminal Syndicate and Attempted Misconduct Involving Weapons.

Thompson was arrested earlier this month for allegedly soliciting or inciting others to further the criminal objectives of the militant group, Islamic State.

The indictment is the result of a nearly two-year long investigation by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.
