Friday Is Last Day To Comment On Fossil Creek Comprehensive Plan

Last year, the Forest Service decided it need a more comprehensive management plan for Fossil Creek, a popular destination thanks to its blue-green water and lush vegetation.

Overflowing trash bins, piles of plastic bottles, and human waste are real problems at Fossil Creek. Coconino and Tonto National Forest implemented an online registration system, which helped curb the number of people passing through.

Now, they want to go further and enact a more comprehensive management plan.

There are five alternatives; the one favored by the forest service includes increasing the number of visitors and developing park and site amenities. The public had 45 days to comment on the plans, and Jan. 13 is the last day to do so.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The deadline to comment on the Fossil Creek management plan has been extended.
