What Does It Take To Be US Attorney For Arizona?

U.S. Attorney John S. Leonardo

John Leonardo left his position as the U.S. attorney for Arizona last week. No surprise since Leonardo was appointed by the Obama administration and was bound to be replaced by the incoming Trump administration.

To learn more about the process and what it takes to be a U.S. attorney, I’m joined by Paul Charlton. He was U.S. attorney for Arizona for six years during the George W. Bush administration.

We also checked in with University of Richmond Law Professor Carl Tobias, who frequently writes about federal judicial selections.

Just this afternoon, Elizabeth A. Strange was named acting U.S. attorney. She will serve in that position pending the appointment of a new U.S. attorney by the new administration.
