How Is Arizona Handling Current Opioid Epidemic?

Arizona is trying to get a handle on the opioid epidemic facing the state.

On Tuesday, several state agencies talked about ways to do that. They include making students more aware of the dangers of opioids and making it easier to get rid of the pills patients don’t need anymore.

With me now to talk about this is Aaron Sorensen. Sorensen is an admissions coordinator with Crossroads, a Phoenix-based substance-abuse treatment provider licensed by the state health department.

He also has some experience with this epidemic — he got hooked on pain pills when he was 17 and has now been sober for two and a half years.
