How Will Loop 202 Expansion Spur Economic Development?

Work has started on the new South Mountain Freeway Loop 202 expansion.

Late last week, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected a motion for an injunction.

The state transportation department said in the first half of this year, crews will set foundations for some of the planned bridges and widen eastbound lanes of Pecos Road, among other projects.

The freeway itself is still a couple of years away from being finished, but developers are already looking at some of the land around it for new building.

With me to talk about that is Lori Collins, Phoenix’s deputy economic development director.
