President Barack Obama leaves office tomorrow after 8 years of an administration that included the passage of landmark health-care legislation, a revived if not ultra-dynamic economy, the killing of Osama Bin Laden, and a nuclear deal with longtime adversary Iran.
And as Obama moves out of the White House, his approval ratings are at 60 percent. So why does it seem to so many that the last 8 years were just OK, maybe even a little lackluster?
Jonathan Chait, political columnist for New York Magazine, is the author of the brand-new book "Audacity: How Barack Obama Defied His Critics and Created a Legacy That Will Prevail."
