Arizona's Top Elected Officials React To Trump's Border Wall Plans

Arizona’s top elected officials are reacting to President Donald Trump’s announcement Wednesday that he plans a wall on the U.S. border with Mexico.

Mexico is the state’s number one trading partner and last night, Gov. Doug Ducey was asked if this might strain business relations between them.

“I want to continue to have economic development and growth," Ducey said. "This is about public safety, drug cartels and human trafficking. Getting criminal activity off the border.”

Trump also issued executive orders regarding immigration enforcement and threatened to cut off federal money for sanctuary cities that offer refuge for undocumented residents.

Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton called it a “divisive attack on Latinos that would incite fear and chaos” in his city and around the country.

Stanton said he would fight the federal government's attempt "to turn the Phoenix Police Department into a mass deportation force."
