State lawmakers are proposing a few changes to how Arizona’s public universities are governed.
A bill from two GOP representatives would create a separate governing board for each university and give the Board of Regents “general oversight” of the system as a whole.
A measure from Republican state Sen. Sylvia Allen would cap year-over-year increases in tuition and fees at no more than 2 percent.
At the same time, ASU is looking to raise $1.5 billion in private dollars, in what it calls the third-biggest public campaign in the school’s history.
With me to talk about all of this is Scott Jaschik, CEO and editor of Inside Higher Ed.
