Both Arizona senators have come out in full support of President Trump’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court Neil Gorsuch.
Senator Jeff Flake cited Gorsuch’s unanimous approval with the senate after he was nominated as a federal judge as a testament to his bi-partisan appeal.
Flake, a member of the judiciary committee, applauded the President’s choice, acknowledging it was a conservative pick. “But he’s a mainstream conservative pick," Flake said. "He’s not on the fringes. He is an originalist who looks at the intent of the founders when they drafted the constitution.”
Flake said he expects confirmation hearings for Gorsuch will start within weeks and he predicts the new justice will be approved by spring.
