Mysterious 'Space Capsule' Found In Arizona Desert

A mysterious object found off Interstate 10 in Casa Grande was not from outer space. But, it had many curious about why an apparent space capsule had fallen in the Arizona desert.

It looked just like the craft Major Nelson returns to earth in at the beginning of an episode of “I Dream of Jeannie.”

But when the Arizona Department Public of Safety went to investigate, they found a very elaborate piece of art made from the drum of a cement mixer.

DPS spokesman Quentin Mehr said the artist applied more than just a paint job to make it look authentic.

“This item had a parachute attached, so it looked like a space capsul that had fallen down. We don’t know who did it, but it’s there,” Mehr said.

DPS only has one clue about the artist. Under where the window hatch would be, it reads: Captain J. Millard.
