'Dig This' Details Experience Of Petrified Forest Digs With 'Regular People'

So, picture this. You’re in Petrified Forest National Park, digging, and you come upon a fossil that makes paleontologists re-think what they know about a particular species.

That did not happen to Annette McGivney, but it could have. The park hosts “regular people” for digs three times a year through the Petrified Forest Field Institute.

McGivney wrote about her experience on one of them in the February issue of Arizona Highways Magazine — it’s called “Dig This,” and she joins me, along with the park’s lead paleontologist, Bill Parker.
