Judge Neil Gorsuch is making the rounds on Capitol Hill following his nomination to the Supreme Court by President Donald Trump.
As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Jeff Flake met the Judge Gorsuch on Wednesday. Flake has been a strong supporter of the judge since his nomination.
Sen. Flake said despite some push back from the Democrats, he doesn’t believe there will be a fight to confirm Judge Gorsuch.
“I would say the Democrats will take the wiser choice and not try to block Judge Gorsuch,” he said. “He’s very popular, it’s would be very difficult to do so. I think that they will save their fire until the next pick.”
If confirmed, Gorsuch would take the seat vacated by Judge Antonin Scalia, who died last year. Flake said, the cofirmation would maintain the balance that was previously held in the court.
