Arizona Files Separate Case Against Volkswagen

Volkswagen customers in Arizona have a separate case against the German auto manufacturer after its false emissions claims.

Nevermind the U.S. court is going after Volkswagen after it admitted to violating federal emissions standards.

Attorney General Mark Brnovich’s lawsuit contends that VW violated Arizona’s Consumer Fraud Act.

Porsche, a division under VW that made some of the engines, said Arizona courts are overreaching. While it admits VW marketed the cars to local buyers, attorneys claim the national ads were not aimed at Arizona alone.

A Maricopa County judge calls that a weak argument, considering VW simultaneously marketed its so-called cleaner emission cars for thousands of dollars more to Arizona buyers and other Americans, under the premise they were helping the environment.
