Arizona Lawmaker Proposes Spending To Repair National Guard Facilities

Arizona’s National Guard facilities are in desperate need of repair, according to Republican State Representative Anthony Kern.

Kern is proposing lawmakers approve spending $6 million to secure another $24 million in federal matching funds. He said that money would be used to improve that National Guard’s Readiness Centers.

“The readiness centers and the facilities that our men and women in uniform in this state live in, stay in, work in are out of code," Kern said. "So, you have some life safety issues.”

His bill passed the appropriations committee yesterday. It asks lawmakers to allocate the $6 million from the state’s general fund.
