What Does Intel's Announcement Mean For The Valley?

Intel’s CEO on Wednesday announced from the Oval Office that his company would be investing $7 billion in Chandler to finish its semiconductor factory, known as Fab 42.

He predicted the move would lead to thousands of jobs, both in construction and the operation of the facility. But, this isn’t entirely a new investment.

In 2011, Intel announced plans to build Fab 42 and invest more than $5 billion in the project. The plant itself was actually built, but the company never opened it.

To get a sense of what this announcement means, I’m joined by Jim McGregor. McGregor is the founder and principal analyst at TIRIAS Research, a high-tech market research and consulting firm based in three cities, including Phoenix.
