Lab testing start-up Theranos has had its second license revoked in less than a year. This time for a center in Arizona. The first was in California, where the company is headquartered.
The Wall Street Journal reports the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services imposed penalties on the lab, including revoking its license, barring it from billing Medicare and ordering an alert to customers of its problems.
Regulators said the company put patients at risk and failed to quickly fix deficiencies.
Theranos' main California lab had its license revoked in July.
Theranos faces an ongoing federal investigation about claims that patients could get accurate blood results with a pin-prick size blood sample using its at-home blood testing kits.
