Tempe Town Lake has reopened after being closed to boating and water activities because of high amounts of debris in the water.
The lake reopens just in time for this weekend’s Desert Spring Regatta.
Due to high levels in Bartlett Lake following large amounts of rain and snow this winter, Salt River Project has been releasing excess water into the Salt River, which feeds into Tempe Town Lake.
When the water moved through the usually dry riverbed east of the lake, it picked up large parts of trees, brush and trash.
