Arizona State Land Department Uses Virtual System To Manage, Gather Information

The Arizona State Land Department manages land sales and leases for 9.5 million acres across the state. Information is shared by 130 employees on a virtual system.

Bill Reed is Chief Technology Officer and said Arizona is the first state in the country to use technology to manage and gather information from anywhere.

“We should be able to go into the future here with our next projects and extract key information and relationships hiding within the information to unveil that and see connections that we would not normally be able to see," Reed said.

Reed said their virtualized data center improved efficiencies by 60 to 70 percent.

At the end of the month, Reed is giving a talk to groups from across the country to model the system here in Arizona and at IBM’s worldwide conference in September.
