Promise Arizona Holding 'Know Your Rights' Training Sessions

President Donald Trump’s immigration policies have spurred “Know Your Rights” training sessions across the country.

Here in Arizona, the immigrant advocacy organization Promise Arizona is holding its own seminars.

David Ayala-Zamora says it’s for anyone who does not fully understand their constitutional rights if or when they’re approached by an officer or Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

"The people have the right to remain silent, the right to not open their door, the right to an attorney, the people who live in the United States have a right to a court hearing, and nobody is guilty unless proven otherwise in court,” he said.

Ayala-Zamora says he hears from citizens and non-citizens who are “paralyzed” to step outside of their homes simply because they are Latino and fear being unfairly separated from their families.

The “Know Your Rights” seminars are being held across Arizona and information is on Promise Arizona’s website.
