Arizona Gov. Ducey Signs Tougher Terrorism Bill

Gov. Doug Ducey has signed legislation fixing a hole in Arizona’s terrorism law.

Under Attorney General Mark Brnovich’s urging, the measure reclassifies terrorism and adds a mandatory 10 year minimum sentence for a terrorism conviction.

Brnovich argued Arizona’s existing law did not have a minimum sentence and limited convictions in plots or attacks on government buildings.

With his signature, the Governor expanded the law to include terrorism threats or attacks on any publicly accessible buildings.

The measure followed an alleged terrorist plot on state and private businesses in Tucson last year.
