Immigration arrests at the Mexican border continue to plummet - and are now at their lowest level in almost two decades.
Arrests of people caught trying to sneak into the United States from Mexico dropped in March to the lowest point in more than 17 years. That’s according to Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly.
He said it’s likely a sign that fewer immigrants are trying to make the trek into the U.S.
Kelly said the number of families and children traveling alone also declined steeply. Fewer than 12,500 people were caught crossing the border last month, Kelly said. That compares with more than 43,000 in December.
