The Arizona Board of Regents is scheduled to vote on tuition and fees for the upcoming school year at its meeting tomorrow in Tucson.
Some NAU and UA students are on guaranteed tuition plans — they won’t see their costs go up. New students signing up for those plans, though, will see higher rates. ASU is proposing a 1.5 percent tuition increase for in-state undergrads.
To find out more about trends in university tuition across the country, I’m joined by higher education economist Sandy Baum. She’s a senior fellow at the Urban Institute.
This morning, we received a statement from ASU, which reads in part: “Arizona State University remains committed to providing an excellent education at financially accessible rates. To maintain the level of excellence and innovation that Arizonans have come to expect, we proposed an increase that supports the quality experience students receive at ASU including expert faculty, modern classrooms, labs and learning environments, and programs to ensure student success.”
