School Voucher Bill Gaining Traction At Arizona Capitol

Republican lawmakers appear to have enough votes to revive the stalled House School Vouchers bill expanding the program to all Arizona schoolchildren over the next four years.

House and Senate leaders are scheduled for debates Thursday to discuss the proposal, which is considered a sign there is growing support.

The bill had stalled in February because of opposition from a handful of GOP lawmakers and the entire Democrat field.

An independent review in February estimated the expansion could cost tax payers more than $24 million.
