Saguaro National Park is offering free admission this weekend, just like hundreds of other national parks, monuments and recreation areas all over the country.

National Park Week kicks off this weekend, and in celebration all national parks all across the country are offering free admission Saturday and Sunday.

Here in Arizona, you can go to nearly 20 national parks, monuments and recreation areas free of charge — from Grand Canyon in the north to Organ Pipe in the south.

Andy Fisher, chief of interpretation at Saguaro National Park, said she’s expecting an uptick in visitors, because it tends to happen each time free admission is offered.

“We’ll have extra volunteers usually on hand to help with some of those crowds,” she said, “but if you’re coming in, especially on the east district, be a little patient with us as we get folks moving through that line.”

Fisher added she can’t remember the last time a free weekend coincided with the Easter holiday, and the confluence might add to the number of visitors.
