Maricopa County Supervisors Select New Republican Lawmaker For Arizona House

The Arizona House has a new Republican lawmaker. Maricopa county officials made their choice Wednesday to replace a legislator who went to work for the Trump Administration.

Phil Lovas, who was chairman of the House Rules Committee, resigned earlier this month to take a job as a political appointee with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The county Board of Supervisors picked Peoria real estate broker and former city councilman Ben Toma for the job.

He will be sworn in immediately. Toma was picked from three nominees selected by precinct committeemen in Legislative District 22.
