State Bar Of Arizona Arguing Against Cuts To Legal Aid Services

Legal Aid services are the largest source of pro-bono legal assistance in the state. Each year they help about 35,000 Arizonans.

Legal Aid can be essential for low-income people who need help preventing the foreclosure of their home, or for domestic-violence victims trying to protect themselves or their children, or for an employee who needs to get the wages they are owed.

But President Trump’s newest budget has called for eliminating the the entire budget for the Legal Services Corporation.

And right now, a contingent from the State Bar of Arizona is in Washington, D.C., to argue against the proposed cuts.

We’re joined now by Judge Larry Winthrop, who’s at the U.S. Capitol now.
