Public School Principal Leadership Program Gets $250,000 Investment From State

A leadership training program for public school principals is getting a $250,000 investment from the state.

Gov. Doug Ducey was in downtown Phoenix Wednesday to announce the increased contribution to support the public-private collaboration known as Beat The Odds School Leadership Academy.

When asked why this funding was directed to training rather than other state education priorities like teacher salaries, Ducey said this is part of a larger investment in the public school system.

"We also want to move policies forward that we know will improve the education system," he said. "So it’s about teacher salaries, but it’s also about principal leadership and executive training and that’s what this program does."

Officials with the training program also announced they’ve established a partnership with the Phoenix Union High School District, their first district wide partnership in the state.
