Arizonans who have an issue with the Republican lawmakers and Gov. Doug Ducey’s $9.8 billion spending plan have one day to oppose it publicly.
Hearings before Senate and House committees start Wednesday morning as committees consider 11 funding bills for the new fiscal year, beginning July 1.
Among the bills is a plan to pay $1 billion toward construction and maintenance projects at the three state universities.
Another bill includes bumping Ducey’s original .4 percent pay raise for teachers to 2 percent over two years, instead of five years.
Full debate and final votes on the budget are set for Thursday.
