California’s 2012 ban on licensed therapists trying to convert young people from gay to straight was upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court this week.
Supporters had said their religious beliefs were being restricted.
Conversion therapy is a method that is still found in some areas of the country, but its validity is questioned by many observers.
Four other states and the District of Columbia have instituted a ban — with the focus on minors.
