Do People See More Movies When They're Stressed About Current Events?

Two thousand seventeen has seen box office numbers go up a little bit for the film business. The first blockbuster of the summer movie season was released this week, "Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume Two."

The films that are expected to bring in the most money are typically full of CGI, big names and probably superheroes. But do people go to more movies when they’re stressed about current events?

To learn more, we talked with Patrick Corcoran, vice president and chief communications officer for the National Association of Theatre Owners, and Jonathan Kuntz of UCLA’s School of Theatre, Film and Television.
