There has been a dramatic drop in temperatures over the past 48 hours, and it’s going to stay on the cool side for a few days and there might even be some rain.
Sunday’s high of 74 was a full 18 degrees below normal in Phoenix, and it marked a 34 degree swing downward in just 48 hours after Friday’s high of 108.
Jessica Nolte with the National Weather Service said temperatures won’t be back near normal until late in the week.
“Our normal for this time of the year is low, mid 90’s. We’re still gonna be in the 80’s for Monday, then back into the 70's by Tuesday, and start a very gradual warm-up as we get back to the work week,” Nolte said.
To top off the cooler weather, rain is likely in the Valley and possibly even more snow in the high country Tuesday as a storm pushes through.
May is the second driest month of the year in Phoenix, with an average of only about .02 inches.
